The Mister and I are invited to an informal "do" soon and I really didn't have anything to wear. Seriously. Most of my things are for warmer weather or too formal. I saw this top in a shop window last week but as we didn't know about this "do" back then I didn't get it. But as soon as the Mister mentioned it to me the other day I knew that it would be perfect so I bought it. I also bought some accessories (long dangly earrings) and a nude colored tank to wear underneath as the knit is very large and has "holes" in and we're not going to have THAT much fun! Lol.. It's pretty versatile, I can wear it with jeans (darker or lighter wash) skirt, linen pants in various colors, etc.
I got flowers from the Mister the other day! I LOVE lilies and this bouqet also has beautiful roses. He'd heard me complain about the store not having any tulips left when we did our Easter grocery shop, I had really wanted a bouqet for the side board in the kitchen, so he bought me this bouqet instead on his way home from work.
I've got a code for 25% off from asos, I LOVE that store and have shopped there since they just opened up and were still a pretty small business years ago. Now they've grown and are huge but I still love almost everything they have. I'm wondering if I should take them up on the offer and order some warm weather clothes... It's tempting!
The Mister has today off so we're thinking that we might head down the pub for a couple of drinks later, should be good. We haven't been for a couple of months, not since before our FL vacation.
I wrote a whole entry the other day about sewing the bedroom curtains and going to the movies (The Other Boelyn Girl - which btw was a great movie) and then when I went to save it, Vox crapped out on me. I couldn't be bothered to re-write that entry right away and then I got busy. Anyway, l wanted to write something here because I'd been quiet for so long, and this is it. The Mister is off to work pretty soon and I'm going do some cleaning.
... but the house opposite ours has lost a few tiles, some are strewn across the road and some are perched precariously on the edge of the roof, very dangerous. The storm arrived in this area some time after midnight, I was asleep but woke up from it, it was SO loud - the wind and rain. Our main street is closed off because a huge tree has fallen across it and traffic signs are strewn across the road too apparently. It's pretty much the same all over the south coast today, and lo and behold, we are getting another bashing tonight according to the weather reports.
Of course this didn't stop us from going out to IKEA this morning, there was a lull between the wind and rain and we took advantage of it. The drive there took an hour as usual then we spent an hour in the store and as we came out the rain had started up again, but we decided to run to the car because it wasn't likely to stop anytime soon. We got soaked through everything, even my underwear got soaked. The drive home wasn't too bad, the wind picked up as we reached to coast and we could feel it grabbing the car but we drove carefully and made it home in about an hour. I am SO glad we went, I got everything I had on the list, 5 baskets for the bookshelf to de-clutter, another basket for the walk-in closet to store gloves, scarfs, hats and mittens, a new lamp and lamp shade for the bedroom, new pads for the dining chairs, white fabric so I can make new curtains for the bedroom and some batteries.

I have mentioned that we live on a tiny little peninsula haven't I? It's really narrow, I can see the sea from my kitchen and living room window (it's right outside) and from the other side of the house I can see straight down a road and at the end of the road I can see the sea again. That's how narrow it is. Plus we haven't got any trees to speak of here, it's all flat (but that may be a blessing in this situation actually?) Our "only" hope is that the houses around us will take the brunt on the winds because they are slightly taller, but because of the courtyard we have on both sides it's probably going to make it worse and come at us from all directions. I know that litter that gets caught up in the courtyard on the front of the houses just goes round and round in a storm, like a mini tornado sort of. I'd hate to see that effect when the storm arrives... My main concern is that the roof will go, or that the roof slabs will lift off and end up flying around out there, or the digital dish. I'm going to pack a little bag with our important stuff (passports, toiletries, change of clothing) and keep with me in the house - just in case. I'm under strict orders to do this from higher up's (no that is not the Mister, LOL) so I'd better get started as soon as we get back from our grocery shop.
I've been busy this afternoon, our office/guest room needed a bit of an over haul (it's the room we've least decorated) and I finally got around to doing it. I've had this fabric for a while - it's white with large green palm leaves, and today I decided to make a pair of curtains out of it. So I got my sewing machine out and did just that, only took a couple of hours as the style isn't complicated at all just straight forward floor length drapes. Then I made a new cover for the pad (seat) of the wicker chair we're using as the office chair, and a cushion cover. As well as took apart a small glass table we have in there and painted (with a roller) the back of the glass table top a spring green shade (to match the curtain pattern). I don't really like glass table tops so this is better, but we're replacing it anyway... just as soon as we get to IKEA.
In FL at Target I saw these white curtains that I absolutely fell in love with, but I thought they were a bit pricey ($24.99 for one panel). They're not on the website anymore so I can't link to them, but the were a bit sheer with some elasticated "ruched" detailing in sort of diamond shapes (SO difficult to explain!) on the top 1/3 part of the panel, so my mission at the moment is to find something similar (but cheaper) over here for our bedroom.
I'm an IKEA family member and got a coupon in the mail the other day - spend £60 and get £10 off. Not bad and I think I might actually use it. Hopefully we can go to IKEA soon as not only do I want to get a new side table for the office, I'd also like to get four baskets for our bookshelf and a few other bits and pieces.
